Last spring I came to you all for help with a sick fish. I bought the very expensive medication, the $$$ medicated fish food, gave him the daily baths etc. He seemingly recovered and had a happy year of life. His fins never really grew back but he zipped around the pond faster than all the others. He seemed fine when I put the pond up for the winter. We started thawing and I had been able to see him under the ice laying on his side on the bottom of the pond for several weeks. I pulled him out of the water today, he was so weak he couldnt even wiggle , there was one other dead fish that had been dead for quite some time....no color no eyes etc. All the other fish look ok so far. Zippy is the only fish I have ever named....it was so hard to do but I had to put Zippy down, he was so far gone I dont think anything could have saved him, I couldnt bare to see him suffer any more. I have been slowly changing out water, the filter is not up and running yet, it's suposed to snow this weekend and the tent is still over the pond. Anything else I should do? Feed the medicated food for a while (when they start eating again)? I have quite a few babies from last year that look good an healthy, lets hope Zippy has some babies in there.I feel so bad.
