yeah, orchids can do all sorts of things... cymbidiums in white and light colors are just so stunning... bet you grow them quite well out where you live...

Yeah, where I live its perfect for Cymbids and Cattleyas and many others. Temp seldom below 5C and mostly up to 25C occasionally in the 30's. We have a Mediterranean climate so it can rain any time and generally quite a lot of wind. So all my plants live outdoors in a shadehouse (except for 2 phallies I have not yet managed to send to that big greenhouse in the sky). Heres a pic of my shadehouse when I had about 500 plants. Now down to about 300 and selling fast as I can due to age and emphasema which doesn't help at all.

I hear ya about the lessening of the collection... I used to have about 1000, mostly mini's, though... and well, it can be a lot of work! Sometimes you gotta just have what ya love best...

Yes its coastal, I'm in Port Elizabeth which is the southern most city of Africa (its just a tad further south than Cape Town). They call it the 10 min city because everywhere is usually very close. For me 10 mins to the beach or shops - everything. Only the industrial area is further - maybe 20 mins! They also call it the sunshine coast (which I dispute) however statistically the average sun daily ranks amongst the best worldwide. Right now its been raining for 2 solid days and daytime temp down to 18C brrrr. I'm much happier when its in the late 20's and so are the plants.
