Falling back - must get up

I had a good talk with the cats last night, explaining that time is changing and so they better sleep an hour longer, but it did no good!

I had changed the clocks in the kitchen, but purposely didn't change the bedside clock, rose at 5:55 a.m. and walked into 4:55 a.m. - far, far too early, but Sooty and Taffy and Maximus and Jasmyn said: breakfast time!

So now it's 6:45, getting light, cold and frosty and Taschi and Gussie think that it's time to go out and feed the chickens and the goats - and I don't wanna!

Suppose this will eventually work out, it always does. All we need it one good gully-washer, when it stays dark all day.

I don't really care whether it should stay DST all year or not, but the changes are a PITA

I have been stopping my few clocks to let "time catch up with them". Three are pendulum clocks and one does not crank the hands backwards on tick-tock clocks or the mechanisms foul up. I usually forget to restart them at the proper time. So, the ritual often lasts for days before all are accurate.

When I was nursing, I somehow I always pulled the nights when we had an extra hour on the shift, and never pulled the days when we sprang foward and got off with a seven hour trick. It had to be karma.

Suzy, you think you have troubles.
I bought Neil a talking watch because he kept asking
me what time it was every minute or two.
Last night he brought me the watch and I set it back for
him. he couldn't stand it til he had pushed every button
on that &%$&*&^^%$#@# thing and got it all off kilter.

He took a sleeping pill and went to sleep but all night
I was awakened every hour on the hour with "it's one
    o'clock a m","it's two o'clock a m" and so on all night. I
finally took it in another part of the house. I guess
I should be thankful that he didn't push the rooster
    crowing alarm thingy.

    Lord luv a duck!

All the animals here seemed to like the extra hours sleep here because none of them woke me up early today. It was nice to open my eyes at 6:30 AM & see that it was almost light out this morning.

Since I'm not a morning person I much prefer my sunlight at the end of the day, I hate driving home from work in the dark. Not that it matters right now, since I'm one of the 50,000 unemployed mortgage workers. I set my watch back, and then decided to call the time number to make sure it was right. They "discontinued" the time announcement service! What is the world coming to? All my life I've called 853-1212 to get the correct time. You can get it on the internet, but what will people do that don't have computers? Never again know the correct time?

Here is a link that might be useful: The Correct Time

The dogs curiously got up at the new 6 o'clock, when to be on their old schedule they should have done it a 5 am. It was supper that fooled them...I was sitting quietly in the living room listening to the radio when I suddenly became aware of two pairs of eyes staring at me. At the new 3 o'clock they wanted their normal 4 o'clock supper. We compromised - I'm weaning them to the new time fifteen minutes a day.

That 'correct time' link was neat.

Back when Trina was with us and just a kitten, she decided to be the official waker-up. She was a patter, you know, a paw gently patting your closed eyes until you woke up. She had an excellent sense of time, waking DH at 330a and DD at 630a. I didn't need her to wake me, but she always checked to be sure that I had managed to open my eyes. The first two times that the time changed, it took her about 3 days to adjust. After that, she never missed changing to suit DST or standard time. No, I don't know how she knew.

My FIL was a Swiss watch-maker and all time-pieces had to be absolutely correct, punctuality was an obsession - he once reprimanded me because I was a few minutes early - DH, of course, was the same way, one could set the clock by the way he lived his daily routine. So now, living my own way, I don't worry particularly about what time it is, I go by the flow of the daylight/night hours, and so do my animals.
Correct time? All my clocks display approximately the same time, give or take a few minutes, works for me.
