Need help with I.D.

Hi, I have a mystery "rescue" orchid from a plant service. It is finally, after a year, starting to bloom. I have no idea what it is. I mean, I have ideas, but my online search is not yielding anything definitive at all. The color in the photo is a bit off. The outer petals look good, but the lip is not such a hot pink, but a bit duskier. Maybe more "plum". It's not quite done unfurling, and had a bit of trouble at the start, so is asymmetrical. I am not sure I even like the poor thing. A bit somber, but hey, it has lots of buds and I am sure it will grow on me as it fills out! Short spikes. I don't know if that is normal, or if i am not caring for it quite right. It's hard to know, when I don't know what it is. i've been treating it like my oncidiums and friends, with lots of light and a fair amount of water. Thanks for help! Janine

It looks similar to a beallara howards dream I have but without the markings. Hope that helps a little I'm not a pro at identifying sorry but I'll share a pic of mine

Thanks! The Miltassia looks very close to it (including those unruly roots going every which-a-way!)

Howard's Dream photo is very beautiful, but I have that one and they are quite different. Similar color palette, though. Thank-you!

Here is another Miltassia and this one is a seedling so every plant raised from the cross will be different. So, out there in orchid growing land there are many plants of Miltassia. The ones raised from seed and the copies (mericlones) If you are lucky your plant might be a copy and you might spot the identical copy on a photo gallery.
