It's a phalaenopsis orchid.you need to repot it so that the roots are below the media use (just under the last green leaf) it also seem to be kept a bit too dry so you could keep the media a bit more moist.it looks a bit on dehydrated. Velleta

Thanks, but it does have a large thick root that is all the way under the media. Kinda weird, never seen them and I have about 7 Phals and this one is quite unique. I appreciate your feedback Velleta.

Yes, repot using the same clay pot but bury the plant so that the lowest (oldest) leaf is just above the bark mix. You can cut that old flower spike down to the base of the plant. Your plant will thank you. I would not increase your watering rate for at least another month so that the roots can acclimate themselves to the new conditions or they may rot.

Thanks, I followed your advise and got rid of the remainder of the old spike and buried the roots as much as I could. Will keep you posted. Hopefully new leaves show besides the one that is already growing. It all makes sense, thanks again..
