I winter mine in my greenhouse where it gets to 40 degrees in winter.
It goes dormant but reappears in the spring.

Not sure about my cheap, little plastic greenhouse on the porch. It'd probably get below zero.

Perfectly hardy to zone 5, I'd plant in the ground. No way will the plant be able to naturalize well if grown in a container. The bulbous rhizomes are not attractive to squirrels or rabbits although deer can munch the foliage.

I grow them outdoors in New Jersey. Never had an issue with squirrels or rabbits eating them.

I suppose the important factor is the soil temp. You can grow them outside in a pot here. Winter night temp range 40 -50F.
One grower has a a garden bed full of them temps as above. I think they would be fine except in extremely cold climate (or tropical) zones.
