I got my first orchid (phal) just recently for my birthday. It has three spikes with gorgeous blooms. Since I had read that many orchids die because of the pots they come in, which do not allow their roots to breathe, I decided that I am gonna do things right from the beginning. Following the instructions on repotme.com - http://www.repotme.com/orchid-care/Pot-Plant-Orchids.html - I "drop potted" it in a nice ceramic orchid pot. I was able to remove the orchid from its plastic container fairly easily and the new ceramic pot was perfect size. I put the ceramic pot with orchid in a bigger container, added room temp. water all the way up to its leaves and let it sit for about 10 min (it was really dry). Then I drained it and placed the orchid pot on a pebble tray.

That was 2 days ago. The orchid had several unopened buds. I checked this morning and it seems the buds have started to dry up. WHAT DID I DO WRONG??
