It depends on how small it really is.
It might work, but you would no doubt have to thin it every year. They are incredibly fast growers. Will you be able to easily pull it out of the pot and divide it yearly? How many gallons do you think the pot is?

I'm not sure. It's probably 2' high, and the diameter at the top is either 20-22", but gets more narrow at the bottom. My best guess would be around 20 gallons.

I think it would be okay.......but you would have to thin it every couple of years. Let us know how it goes! And don't forget to fertilize it monthly.
