Phalaenopsis

This was my daughter's orchid. In my former home it spent the summer in a covered porch with southern exposure and did very well. It has begun to form what look like ROOTS (resemble green beans) from the leafy portion and now there are appearing these same things from the edge of the pot it's in. I have NO idea what this means. It is now in an eastern exposure (indoors) and gets morning sun through the terrace doors. What's going on here?? It did make some extra flowers this summer. Does this plant need to be repotted and how do I do that (what mixture, etc.) or should I just leave it alone. I have no idea what to do about this.
