small red worms in my filter? what tha?

i just cleaned my filter, cleaned it once last week, my water was still pretty green (due to rain fall) so i cleaned it again today...

my filter has three different filters *screens, whatever they are called* the first two were really clean, but the one closest to the pump was pretty green with yuck... as i sprayed this part off, i noticed little red worms in the filter...

this is the first time ive seen these...

what are they, what should i do about them, and should i panic?

hope someone can help me with this...
