Growing from Seed

Q: On Using TP rolls? (Search is not functioning)

I've got a TON of these, and was thinking about using them for some annuals in April here in Z5, but not sure if 'outside' would be detrimental to them at that time. I don't have/use a cold frame at all, and am currently winter-sowing, but not with the cardboard rolls.

I've never grown things from seed other than direct-sown veggies on/near Memorial day, but want to make the best use of the things I've acquired that are useful for this venture.

Any Zone 5-ers wanna chime in on their experiences with these? Thanks!

I've never used them, but please don't grow food in them. There are so many chemicals used in the paper making process, glues included, that are not meant to be eaten. Sorry I can't be of further help...

I do know that paper/peat pots can get very moldy, which is why I don't use them. I reuse the plastic paks (and the plastic probably leaches out chemicals, too, so there you go...)

I tried a dozen once and they all unraveled within a half hour of waterin. The brand I used was a waste of time but I like to experiment so it was briefly fun.
