I'm not worried about it, Karen. I have a blooming paphiopedilun in the window and it'll stay there until the flower fades.

If one does want to move the plant, lets say to somewhere more visible away from the window, when is the best time to do this without causing the spike to stall or the bud to blast?

My comfort level increases the closer it is to opening the buds. I'm not comfortable moving a plant until the flower is open.

No nuances about that :). I try hard to not move a spiking/budding plant unless I have to because I've been bit by this bain many times. But sometimes it's necessary and you have to just cross your fingers and hope for the best.
