A Question About Roots

I have (finally!) successfully rooted some cuttings from a rose. I do not know the name of the rose, since it is from my neighbor's bush, and he neither knows about it, nor cares about it. I want to guess it's an alba, but I really can't say.

But as I was planning where to plant it, I got wondering about own-root roses. I don't really understand the issues of root-stock, beyond the fact that most roses wouldn't be hardy here in S. Ontario without being grown on the root-stock of a rose that is hardy. But if I grow a rose from a cutting, that means it will be an own-root rose, right? What if it is from a cutting of a rose that is grown on Dr. Huey or other root-stock? What then? Will it live?

I would appreciate your wisdom!
