I think you should rethink this issue.
If there are any native frogs or toads in your area they will find your pond. Just be sure to understand that what these little critters need is not only a pool for breeding purposes but an adequate food supply and a habitat that will be comparable to the one they were borned into.
Another reason for letting the animals find you is that if you want to "take" any amphibian or reptile in the state you will need a permit from the California Department of Fish and Game. Click here to DFG

The most important thing I need to stress is the development of suitable habitat that includes your pond for allowing amphibians to exist within. Once this is done and the habitat is supporting an adequate amount of both flying and crawling insects then you may find yourself with other life forms besides frogs. Once we put in our pond, the frogs and toads (and everything else) found us almost immediately. Be patient...they will come. Create a healthy pond environment first with diverse plant life, then you'll have no problem supporting amphibians and insects.

Yep, we live in a subdivision and it wasn't but about 2 days before I had frogs and toads come to my pond. Scared teh crap out of me when one jumped over my hand while I was adjusting the pump, lol. We enjoy watching them in the evenings. My husband is always amazed and says where do they all come from? They just show up.

I live in Simi Valley, and the Pacific Tree Frogs that we used to get all of the time have gone missing in the last two years. I have read that there has been a problem with large populations of frogs dying off as a result of some mysterious disease. I miss them. Especially "Bubbles", who croaked so loud he kept us awake some nights!

The use of Roundup has devastated frog populations.
