Victorian Lilly seeds

Hi, I used this site couple years ago when I was having pond problems, still am, but I was wondering if anyone had some of these seeds they could share with me. I have always loved this plant and wanted to try my hands at growing them at my pond. I remember there was talk of a seed sharing site or something. There was also another large species of lilly I was interested in growing that started with an E. Both are tropicals.

How is everyone elses pond doing this year? Jenny still around?

I grow a fair number of Vics each year and it is probably late for starting seed; I like to have mine sprouting by mid-March.

The other thing is I would not expect an unprotected one to survive even a Tx Gulf Coast winter, even in S. FL it is a struggle and generally is only successful with the 'Longwood Hybrid'.

have you checked out "Victoria adventure" not only a source for seeds but tons of info on culture .

Victoria Adventure looks like their site has not been updated in 2012. They currently state that they are closed to seed requests, and that any requests at this time will be discarded.

I'm a frog's hair away from ordering seeds from eBay. I have the room, like the look, and the only things perturbed by the thorns will be the mallards. I'm wanting something big enough to shade the water that has a prayer of surviving a winter on the Texas gulf coast. My pond ranges in depth from six to twelve feet, with a ramped area we used to get the excavator in and out last summer during the drought. Figure I could either plant the Victoria there or a few feet deep on one side of the island.

craig, I live in Clev, Ohio, and plan on wintering it over, thats possible right? Do you have any hybrid seeds I can buy off you>?

Vics never form a tuber or bulb that can survive the winter in a dormant state, so to over winter you'd need a heated greenhouse and probably supplemental lighting.

That and this is the time of year I am setting seed. The harvesting doesn't start until early fall as a rule. So the only seed I have at the moment are the emergency stock I keep as a hedge against crop failure.
