Rumor has it pond pumps can be found on sale in the fall/winter. And .... I'm working on the plans for my spring pond remodel. lol-lol.lol-lol

So I want to figure out what size pump I should get so I can start watching for a good deal. I'm thinking a Pondmaster 1800 should work, but then again I would hate to short change myself.

I'm guessing after the remodel and fixing sides and what have you, I will be maximum 700 gallons. More like 600 probably. Have to carve my way around oak stumps, tree roots and sewage pipes.

There are 3 small pumps now. One for the fountain, one spitter and one bio-filter drip fall.

I want to eliminate the pump in the fountain and have the fountain basin spill over into the pond. The fountain is 40" tall and the basin is 24" diameter. The pipe inside the fountain is fixed and is 1/2" (or less). For what ever reason, I'm thinking to leave the bio-filter drip pot on its own pump. I would use splitters and ball valves for the fountain and the spitter. More volume from the spitter wouldn't be a bad thing to have.

I'm also going to move the pumps to an external box and add filters in the same and/or in series box. The filter/pump box(s) will be on the narrow end of the pie.

Of course, I'm a babe in the woods with ponds yet, so any advise/recommendations/critiques you might have are welcome.

As well, 1800 or 2400 pump size? I don't have koi and have no plans for koi.
