Dave do you know if the "Lucky Charms" Leprechaun was ever reported missing in you area?
Maybe you found his magic cave?
But it looks like something dreadful happened to the cheeky wee fella!!!
Is your spade really sharp?
"Horton"

No! No! No!..no spade. It's probably one day going to be a beautiful moth or butterfly. Don't hurt it. Glenda

I agree with Glenda...Don't kill it...It looks like it will be some kind of moth or butterfly.

It might be hungry. Put it on your tomato plants.

I know it would Love some Primrose Creeper. Everything else does. Especially the big ole green horn worms we have at home. Glenda

I think it's a tomato worm!

It could be a silver spotted skipper caterpillar or maybe, if it is hairy, an Imperial Moth Caterpillar or maybe even a Luna Moth Caterpillar. Or.. an ALIEN!!!! :-)

Anne

LMAO@YOU ALL!!..It ended up getting out of my fenced in compound..It obviously wasn't here for the beer LOL...cuz we would have had to see how sharp my spade was LOL...It was amazing...my daughter kept checking on it while I was moving rock...she kept me well informed of where it was at all times....I'm sure it will be beautiful in its next phase of life.......Dave :-)

It's a Luna Moth caterpillar....I googled it...Dave :-)

With the dark V on its rump, I think it's the last caterpillar stage of the Polyphemus moth. Same family as the Luna moth.

Here is a link that might be useful: Polyphemus caterpillar photo

It is beautiful. It is so time consuming to identify all the various stages of moths and butterflys. I know I have come across this one before. It was on a Kimberly Queen fern and it was noisy. I had brought the fern in for the winter and at night I could hear it chomping. I finally located it because of the enormous amount of frass under the plant. I relocated it on a warm day to a lady fern outside and it seemed to like that one too. Sandy

I googled Luna Moth and found out that it takes about 9 weeks from egg to moth. They are beautiful, but then the Moths only live One (1) week. That's a shame, me thinks. Glenda

riverspots I would have to agree...Thanks! Dave
