Pavers for Pool Deck

This is not for a garden, but I am hoping someone call still answer this pavers question. We have gotten a bid from two contractors for laying pavers over our current cement pool deck. One contractor will put pavers right over our existing drain and will not seal the pavers so that water will go through the pavers. The other contractor will put a drain extension over the existing one and seal the pavers so that we will lose no sand. He admitted it will be slightly slick at the beginning but that will quickly resolve itself.

Is any one technique better than the other? If they're both acceptable, what are the pros and cons we should be aware of with both techniques so that we can best make a decision? Thank you so much for your help. Any insight, especially in regards to drainage, would be greatly appreciated.
