Depends on where you are located. There must be quaries listed in the Yellow Pages or even stone sellers call and ask then go and take a look, it will cost though especially moss, but it will make up for the free ones you got.

Denver. I know there are plenty of quarries, but between the cost of the rock and the delivery charges it is not a viable solution. I know the PO got the existing rocks on the cheap by going and collecting themselves, but I don't know where they went to do so. I was hoping a local would know.

I'm not a local but live in the Puget sound just a little south of Seattle. I collect my rocks just about anywhere, neighbors that don't want them; on hikes and at the beaches. Where I live they have a car/camper storage area fenced in and it had a lot of boulders in it, guess who got them *G*

There are a lot of mountains and places to get what you need; all you need is some muscle and a truck *G* When my brother visits from CA I take him with me and we gather ones I normally could not lift alone.

You might check with the forest service, I think you can collect rock for personal use. Also, watch craigslist. In Colorado Springs, sometimes I see rock on the postings. There was a poster in Florissant selling rock for $30/ton I think (get the rock yourself) but that would be a long drive from Denver...
