Hi - I have a 500 sq ft area of DG that is crumbling to mush and am considering installing a flagstone patio, but have a couple questions. I'm trying to keep the profile of the flagstone/ sand as low as possible as the DG is currently level with a small lawn and borders:

** Can I use the DG as a sub base?

** If so, the DG is 4-6 inches thick. How little sand can I get away with between the DG and the flagstone? I'm planning 2 inches, but since I'm trying to keep the profile low I'd really like to do less unless this is a stability issue. It freezes 1-2 nights a year, so barring an earthquake things should be pretty stable.

** The DG already has weed barrier beneath it (4 inches down) should I put another layer of weed barrier on top of the DG? Seems like overkill but who likes to weed...?

** Can I use 1 inch Conn Bluestone, or is 1.5 inch a better choice?
