Polysand not bonding-help!

I was surprised and pleased to find that members here are familiar with polymeric sand. I have a flagstone patio where the contractor as attempted installation THREE TIMES and each time it does not cure. Instead, most area's end up being a soggy mess and/or a sheet of rubber-like sand forms on the surface which of course peels away to wet sand. I am so frustrated! The contractor has tried different rates of water application to no avail and even purchased new product in the event of a bad lot. Any suggestions? Or another finishing process? The only reason I went with polysand is that the patio surrounds a large Maple Tree and was trying to use a product that would allow water to pass through. I am open to changing stone at this point-- just want to preserve the tree. Thanks so much. Phyllis

Has he tried following the directions on the package, and asking the manufacturer for advice?

Hi lazygardens--thanks for reply and yes both- we both talked to manufacturer and read instructions--both emphasize the rate application rate is key. He has followed but still no luck. I am so frustrated by this; think I will tear out the whole mess and put in ground cover!

Just found a new Sealer at the Texas Nursey & Landscape Expo this weekend that actually is designed to "set" the sand between dry set pavers. Nicest thing was that the sand really was locked...but it didn't look like there was any sealer at all. No icky, sticky shine on the stones or sand. Here's a link...I'm getting some myself.
