Hello, I'm looking for some information on how to build terraces with no pre-existing slope. We have a relatively small, very flat yard and I'd like to try and make a manufactured slope of sorts in one corner. I'm planning on making two or three terraces, each only about 10-12 inches high, with some broken pieces of concrete (the entire yard was concrete when we moved in). Something along the lines of building the outermost wall, then filling the space in with soil, building the middle wall, filling that space in with soil, then building the smallest innnermost wall and filling that space in with soil. Does this make sense so far? My question is: do I need to build up a base of rock and sand from the original ground level for each wall in order to avoid a land slide the next time it rains heavy? and how would I do that? Any ideas, info, resources would be greatly appreciated. thanks so much, linda
