My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
I just signed up for Gardenweb to reply to this post because I am terrified! I just put my greenhouse up 3 weeks ago and already lost half of my plants the first night when the temp went down to 21 degrees below! I have an 8X10 Easy2Build... I'm so scared that the whole structure will collapse in this storm...
You might want to go outside every few hours and pull the snow off of the roof.
Here, right now, the snow is basically blowing sideways so not really accumulating anything on the roof. It is NASTY out there. I'm guessing we've had 8" or so but it is blowing and drifting pretty bad.
Thanks for the advice, Stressbaby. I made a typo before; it's actually an 8X12, not an 8X10. I've kept it up around 70 today with 2 heaters running. I was only able to keep the temps around the freezing mark the night they went down to -21 outside because I had not done anything to insulate the GH yet and I had no choice but to put my plants in it. I purchased a clear solar pool cover that came in a box marked "clear" but the cover that was inside was silver! I ended up making a few emergency trips to the HD the next day for clear tarps & caulking. They have done a pretty good job of keeping the cold out so I won't need to worry about getting another cover until next year. The snow is blowing sideways out this way as well, so not much on the roof yet but it has piled up against the doors. I would need to shovel to get it... What do you grow?
Well, we awoke to clear skies this morning, even though they said it was to snow until noon. There are parts of my yard so deep I can't walk, and parts with no snow at all, where the snow has been blown completely off. It has drifted 5 feet high against the bathroom window.
GH is OK at 53F. Surprisingly, only one heater on ATM. Maybe the little bit of snow on the roof is helping insulate a little bit for now. Will try to get pics later.
The first storm dumped about 8" so i cleared that out pronto as the forcast was calling for another 4 - 14". Probably got 2" of snow and 1" of sleet. All in all I'm a happy gardener!
I had a little sleet, then about 4-5 inches of light, blowing snow on the flat top and 3-4 ft slanted glass top side. You couldn't see a thing but snow, looking up in there. There was no way I could get outside to knock it off last night in 14+ inches and 1 degree F. so I realized it would be wonderful insulation for the very low overnight temp outside, if the weight of the snow didn't break any glass. And boy, was I praying! The snow kept the gh so snug that I didn't even need the little electric heater. Today in the sunshine, it all melted or fell off, so all is well. In it's 45 years, that gh had never, ever been through a blizzard! I hope we never see another one-- Photo taken from right outside my back door, looking east. Sunny {{gwi:288695}}
So happy to see everyone made it through...so did I! I didn't attempt to make the 110 ft trek out to the GH in the 2 feet of snow that we have out there until today because temps in the GH reached 84 degrees by 9 AM so I had to go an shut the heaters off finally. They have been off for a few hours now and it is still in the 80s. Hoping this sun will melt some of the snow. I shoveled a path out there and shoveled the snow blocking me from opening the door. Was nice and fluffy!
