Newbie trying courgettes

I am utterly new to any form of gardening (apart from mowing the lawn when i lived at home!) and have recently planted some courgette seeds in small peat pockets in a propagating tray on my kitchen windowsill. i've followed all the instructions to the letter. There are 16 peat pockets, and so far, one seedling! It has grown very strongly and is about 5-6mm thick and about 30mm tall. And so far nothing from the others. Am i doing anything wrong?

I've also sown some salad leaves and swiss chard outside and they are already coming up despite the cold weather, so if i could just get the courgettes to germinate i'd be very happy!
