Keep up the attention to the plant. They are your constant growing children. If you are looking to speed up process, add 3 drops of fertilizer and coffee to about a 1/2 cup water to plant area. For quality-full fern and very big and vibrant, consider giving mist of water and sugar and salt to leaves to add contribution to photosynthesis process, which makes your plant make more oxygen making it greener and fuller. If you just want your plant to stay alive, make sure you are not over-watering the plant, and make sure that your pot/container has proper straining and that your water is reaching and going into roots. to make sure, uproot plant carefully, and stuff roots in PVC pipe and place soil in pipe, closing up bottom (leaving a small hole for water to exit). water with less water, bus this makes sure all water is getting to roots easier. Coat PVC prior to placing roots and soil in with fertilizer substance. (water,sugar,salt,and liquid fertilizer). Hope this helps you out!

I have some silly questions, if that's ok. I have potted it today into it's new big and comfortable pot, with water straining. When I water it, do I just pour around the surface of the soil around the plant, or more into the middle where most of the stalks are? I am worried that if i do that they might start to rot? I am also awaiting slow-release plant food and liquid palm fertiliser which is suggested to be used only twice a year. If my plant is already potted, how do you suggest I add the plant food? Also, when should the two fertilising sessions happen in the year? thank you.

Are we talking about a fern or a palm? I couldn't get into the web site you cited. Frankly, I've never heard of an Areca (or Arecca) Fern.

I strongly suggest that you skip the salt, sugar, and coffee!

I am not sure if it's a palm or a fern? Many sites do say it's a palm, rather than fern.
