I have a boxer that is a great dog. Except when we are away! We have underground fencing(shock collar)for him and this works great. He learned quickly and does not ever leave the boundaries of our yard. He has free roam of an acre. Problem is when we are away and he is outside he digs in my flower beds! Mostly around my porches, which I have just come to discover, the neighbor kitties are using as a litter box. Why do dogs like kitty poop! YUK!

I am going to put up lattice under the stairs to keep out the cats. But how do I keep him from digging in other areas?

He has toys to keep him busy while we are gone. Free access to the garage if it rains. Water and food readily available. Crating, kenneling or tying him is NOT an option. I just don't have the heart to.

Does the chicken wire trick work? Without constant repair if he tries to dig? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
