Heat tolerant bush - any suggestions?

We are looking for a very heat-resistant bush for 2 planters in front of our garage which receives afternoon sun. We're in central CA, zone 9. We have photinia in other areas and would like something different in this location. Our home has a deep green-blue trim on a neutral house.

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thank you.

An upright variety of Lantana might work for you. They are very heat tolerant, and will bloom all summer. Butterflies are attracted to them as well.

For a more manicured appearance you might consider dwarf Youpon Holly.

Both of these plants thrive here in North Texas, where they are exposed to extreme summer heat.

When I was a student at ASU it always seemed to me that the Bougainvillea that did best were in the hottest locations.
