You can start using it at any time. Personally, I do not like the smell of fish emulsion and won't use it inside at all. The (so-called) 'deodorized' brands stink only a little bit less than the regular stuff.

Mind you, smells are very subjective! I'm pretty sensitive while others are not.

Thanks for the help. The stuff I bought is this 5-1-1 stuff. From what I have seen this is one of the weaker types around. Yes and it is "deoderized" but you are right-----it still smells pretty bad. I have been using it once a week on all my plants. I just spray it on the leaves. Is that the way it is supposed to be done?

Yes, it is best to be used as a foliar spray, just make sure that you do not over concentrate the mix because it can actually green up your plants very quickly so a strong concentration may burn your plants.

Thanks Aero....yeah I mixed it just as it said on the bottle. In fact I probably made it a little too watery. Actually, since it is only a 5-1-1 concentration I probably shouldn't worry about it. When you fertilize do you spray all the leaves generously? Do you give the plant a good coating?
