Hello we share a Thuja hedge with a neighbour and it must be at least 10 years old. We recently found that the Thuja had grown under the driveway, and up under the porch tiles which are now cracking. We were astonished to find two roots of 2-3cm diameter at 3m from the hedge and would like to find an ecological way of limiting further root growth.

We thought about using mild acid on the roots under the driveway at mid point. There is a slab of concrete above the large roots and so we would like to find a way to infect the root at the house but not kill the plant 3m away. We weally need to kill the roots which are at the house and doing most damage before we replace the cement and tiles.

Can anyone help? We donâÂÂt want to use herbicides if possible.
