Babs, ask your vegetable gardening question over in the Vegetable Gardening forum. I know nothing of your zone, but you would probably not start with seeds but with plants already growing, giving you a head start. Good luck. I'm sure someone over there can help you.

The Vegetable Forum is a good place to start. Also, visit your local County Extention office. I loaded up on the free brochures available at mine. I also got a month-by-month chart (free) there that tells me what vegetables to plant each month. I listed it somewhere on GardenWeb (I remember writing it out for someone's post) but have no idea where. Also, the Frugal Forum & the forum on pests (not sure of correct name) are good places to get information. If you have problems with deer, here's a diagram of someone's electic fence:

It is never too late to start. and in SC we can garden 12 months of the year. Carolina Gardening and Square Foot Gardening forums are good friendly ones.
