Bunk Beds

We love designing bunk beds! In fact it is probably one of our favorite things to do. The attached picture shows some of our work, and you can see more here.... http://www.alderandtweed.com/we-love-designing-bunks/ ...My question to the Houzz community is; what else would you like to see in a set of bunk beds? What would make you want to be a kid again? We are always looking for new ideas, and would love to integrate them into our next project! Let me know.

What would I like to see in a set of bunk bed? Good quality down sleeping bags in place of a comforter. Bunk beds are so difficult to make, and keep looking "made".

I love this set of beds. Particularly great are the lights in the individual spaces to make them feel more like tiny rooms. My kids would be all over this. I think the only other thing I would like would be a bit of shelving or other storage in each space, though...you may actually have that here, just not visible.

Emily, thanks for the feedback. We actually have thought about putting a shelf on the back wall. I think you are right and we should revisit that.

Bunk beds that feel 'grounded' and do not loom over the rest of the room, especially if you have a room of average height and size. Given that closets are already 'height' features. Some way of sitting beside and cuddling/comforting the kid on the top bunk is what i miss most. The storage bit is already covered!

We have a very small room in a cottage and would like to maximize sleep space-trying to fit in 2 sets of bunks with one bottom a double the rest all twins. Room size is possible in a 9x7 space!? I have accounted for the door and closet so the 9x7 is "leftover" space. So I;m looking for more tight space ideas! thanks

I love the look of these! My kids have a hard time sleeping when they feel alone though. What about an opening between beds to see each other and say hi. Or maybe an area for a night light/reading light. Or a game table ledge to play checkers or a board game. Maybe a pole or slide from the top bunk. On one hand I wouldn't change a thing because these are awesome, but if you're brainstorming, here you go!

I have two sets of bunk beds in our cabin "kids" room, and I added reading lights and curtains around each of the beds. The kids love the curtains, as it feels like a tent or fort to them!

Love the way these appear to be mini rooms. Would like drop rails like hospital beds have so making up the bed wouldn't be such a stretch!

I love the look of that room! Unfortunately, I don't have the budget to pull something like that off. Going to be purchasing a standard bunk bed for my grandkids. However, if I had the money that would look great!
