I started gardening a little a few years ago to distract myself after my 3rd miscarriage. That September I got pregnant with my Son when planting Hyacinths. It was high risk so I stopped until he was in Preschool last year. Now he's almost 4 and loves gardening as much as I do. I have two questions:

1. I subscribe to Fine Gardening and am amazed by one thing in their container gardening section. How do they fit Shrubs and Trees in with all those other plants? The pots just aren't big enough to accommodate them at their biggest. I have OCD and that means season/Month are big themes for me. I'd love to do a 4 season themed garden but I don't know how to get a 'Viridis' Yew (Fine Gardening March/April 2013 pg 37) In my 15" pot.

2. This one is time sensitive. Starting tomorrow the lowest temps are going to average 38, 40, and 41 for a few days (it's May 11th). I know my Marigolds lasted in October past Sandy but how with the Marigolds, Begonias, and Daisies do? (As well as my son's Verbenem and the Agitatums he got me for Mother's Day today)? Will that 3 day May cold snap kill them here in Northern NJ? It's been in the 40s a few times recently but not colder then 44 or 45 I don't think maybe as low as 43. My guess is they can handle it but it would be good to know. The nursery had out the covers earlier but I can't cover all mine. Usually, they don't sell until it's safe to plant.
