I looks pretty, looks like only released in England for now.

This is a 2013-14 introduction in Europe meaning it was available as bare root starting last fall, so even customers in Europe won't know much about it yet. If DA sees it fit it may reach your shores by the next bare root season. Previous year's introductions have all been released in the US this season afaik.

Thanks Kippy and Nik. I know this rose hasn't been released in the US yet, but I believe Austin trials many of their roses in American gardens before they're released here, and I was hoping I might get word from someone trialing it. Even information from Europe would be helpful, though preliminary. For example, I have five new Austin varieties --
bareroot -- planted just months ago, as well as one Tantau, and SdlM Cl bareroot, just planted weeks ago. For most of these roses, I can already tell you the colors and forms of the early blooms, their approximate growth rate, how healthy they appear, whether the early canes are stout or flexible, and a rough estimate of the buds and blooms. How that relates to the way these roses will perform down the line, I don't know -- but it's at least something to start with. I'll tell you one thing: I don't remember ever having bareroot roses that shot out the gate like these Austins. Some are already halfway up their support structures and covered with buds and/or beautiful blooms. And our planting conditions have been terrible; high 50s (with nights in the 40s) one week, mid nineties the next. I want to thank all the people on this forum who helped me choose, and if anyone has early information about the Albrighton Rambler, I'll be very grateful.

Thanks summersrhythm -- It's so pretty, but I want to get feedback what it needs to thrive before buying. And I got tempted with Munstead Wood and a bunch of other David Austin Roses that other people with similar conditions to mine raved about. I planted my Austin bare roots very late, and am protecting them and praying they do well. Hopefully those who've purchased the Albrighton Rambler will let us know what it takes to keep this new rose healthy and blooming.

Jannicke, have you thought about growing the Romantica climber, Colette, that I think does very well in the heat? The photos I'll post you may have already seen. Colette was one year old (now is two, but no photos yet for this year) in these photos. I had to prune her quite a bit to keep her contained in the small spot she grows in, something I don't like to do. The photos on HMF will knock your socks off. They

make me wish my Colette had more space, but I don't want her to be snagging passersby. The photo from a contributor in Boston is jaw dropping. Diane

Just me again, Jannike. Didn't know if you saw my post. You've should try looking at Colette on HMF. I hadn't done this until yesterday, and was mightily impressed by what I saw, especially by what the Europeans were doing with this rose. But my fav was that Boston pic of Colette with the clematis. It took a year for them to send Sally Holmes to me. I vaguely remembered ordering, wondered what happened and was in shock when this package arrived and it was Sally Holmes. She is now putting out her first canes next to the Cast Iron Fence, and I expect Glory soon! She is my fave.

Oh -- hi Diane! I haven't checked this thread in a while, so I'm glad to find your post. I actually saw you recommending Colette for someone else about a year ago, so I ordered it along with a few other bands. When the rest of my roses were ready to ship, Colette was sold out (probably snagged by other people who saw your recommendation lol), so I ended up getting something else. What a pretty rose! And so floriferous! I actually have a great spot for this on another project, so I'm glad you reminded me. The photos on HMF are impressive, as are yours! Thanks a bunch; can't wait to see how it does here!

Suzi, Sally Homles is a beautiful rose, I hope it grows fast in your garden. I planted 2 (bare root) last year, they were 2' tall before the winter, now they're just 7-8" tall. Not sure if they can make it to 10' this year before the winter. We have 6 months winter here by the Great Lakes, so the growing season is very short. I hope they can grow tall for me. Ok, Summers. It has been 2 years. How is your Albrighton Rambler doing? Do you have any pictures yet? I planted this one bare root over a month ago and it is just sitting there doing nothing. (Well hopefully doing some root growing underground!)

No blooms yet, it's too early for zone 6. It has no winter dieback this year. I can take a photo for you this weekend. I bought another one from Hortico this spring and planted it last month.

I also planted this one about a month ago bare root - it's leafing out some, but I fear it's not getting enough sun. I'd love to hear how it performs for others who have it!

We planted a barefoot in 2015. Took off pretty good the first year. In the Spring of 2016 we had a warm March and then a very cold 10 days in April which wreaked havoc on a lot of our roses, but killed Albrighton. We re-ordered and replanted that same spring and the new one was a bit slow last year, but she's doing pretty good so far this year.

You’re welcome. The roses next to Albrighton were 4 Mary Rose, voles took down 3 of them this winter.......

Ah! Just lost a super long post! Anyway, last winter was mild but the one before was brutal. Multiple days - 50. They had to extend the school year due to so many days off! Roses don’t get very big here as they usually die back to the crown and come up from the roots. I’m just happy to be able to grow them at all! One positive with them staying small is that I have room to try out a lot more! I don’t know how I would choose if they got to a decent size! I am going to try a couple more once bloomers as I would like a few more reliable ones. Love all the pics! I suppose I should get ready for work though, sigh.... it’s finally starting to warm up here!!

Hi Diane! I am about 3.5 hours away from Embarrass. I always say, someday I will leave the cold. But then summer comes and it’s soo beautiful. I think having the cold really makes one appreciate it when it gets nice!!

Hi back, Kelly, I've only been to Minnesota a couple of times, but it's beautiful all right. Every place has its downside, but there are always plenty of positives no matter where you live. I read a while back that Embarrass was settled by Finns originally. We have some big Finnish settlements (or did have in the past; the younger ones have probably all moved away), that live north of here. Many worked in the lumber industry at one time. Diane
