Killing Virginia Spiderwort

I was pleased when my daughter gave me a bucket of this pretty but now detested plant. I've dug and dug and now it's rained 7" lately and there are more than ever..what are my chances of killing it if I cut it to the ground and pour Brushkiller concentrate down its' throat with every new shoot ??? Help, please !

I have quite an infestation of this around my yard. I've been digging them out for days and still keep finding more.
Anyone have any suggestions that doesn't involve chemicals?

Just dig it out...and don't let it go to seed again. If you keep weed whacking every time you mow the lawn, it'll be dead soon (next year).
It doesn't spread by mile long runners after all, like bermuda.
