Bareroot Roses Dying?

Hi,

I got two bare root roses as a gift. The box had absolutely no instructions. They looked healthy and had started sprouting. I dug holes about 18 inches deep, planted them, and watered deeply. That was a week ago. I've been keeping the soil moist. They still look healthy but all the sprouts they had are drying up! I did some research and found I should have soaked the roots first. Unfortunately the box had absolutely no instructions. Are they a lost cause? Should I just dig them up and toss them or is there hope? We've had great weather here..daytime temps in the 60s and 70's and nights in the 50's so I know they didn't freeze or anything. Are my roses dead?
