I'm thinking of growing blackberries. I'm told that the most desireable varieties are marginal in my area. Blackberries fruit on second year growth. I'm told blackberry canes grow fairly tall. Would it be helpful to construct a simple cover of plastic sheeting and pvc pipe or wood?

Any suggestions?
