That's probably a good idea. Or, you could do like I do, and buy unpowdered surgical gloves in bulk, and toss about three pair per day when working in the garden. About the only time I wear heavier gloves is when pruning roses. Or picking wild berries, when I wear a long rose pruning glove..guess where? Left hand only to hold the thorny canes out of the way while I pick with my right.

I've switched from the usual latex surgical glove to heavy-weight nitrile, usually get about 50 hours use - and then tossed not for holes but because I tear the cuff. Nitrile is great for planting because you can 'feel' what you are doing and really outstanding for pulling weeds because even wet soil doesn't stick to them. Anyhow, I learned a trick from a garden column that I use on the cloth and leather gloves - paint the finger tips and palm with silicon caulking (the clear flexible comes-in-a-tube kind) and they will last and last... I'm ambidextrous (which just means *both* gloves wear out), so I can't use the turn-the-good-glove-inside-out trick, but since using the silicon, my gloves are still in good shape after two years (I used to replace them about every other month...)

Great idea, Meldy.......I'm going to try the silicon. I use leather gloves and am always wearing out the fingertips. I have to wear leather ones because I'm always pruning sago palms, bougainvillea and other "sticky" plants. Thanks for the tip!
