It may be because many of the custom roots also have an option where you can ask to be notified when they become available not as custom roots, but as their regular stock. It may be easier to have that one classification than to create another one that's just available as they choose. Also, if someone trusts them more than another supplier, it might be worthwhile to that person to pay for custom rooting? Or perhaps they have a particularly nice clone people are willing to pay for?

Just assuming and that might make an ass/u/me but I think Vintage has such a large supply of roses they cannot make everything widely available all at one time, so they have the largest supply of what is "hot" right now and they offer the others on request and because they might/might not be selling like hot cakes, it takes the same amount of time to "custom" root one as it would several so you are paying for something that is not "on the shelf" sotaspeak.

I believe once they run out of a certain stock, the rose moves to custom root. They may still take cuttings of that rose and have it available next season (next band season for them). So, rather than not offering it all once they have sold out of a certain rose, they will still accommodate a customer with a custom root band. If one wanted to wait until the next offering (in fall, I think?) you might be able to get it then. Also, I think that some of the roses are less popular and they may not take cuttings on a regular basis from those to offer up as part of the seasonal bands.

Thank you. That makes more sense to me, JB.

JB, I'm so sorry I don't remember your name but didn't you send me a pic of your Corgi? I have a picture of someone's Corgi.

Carla

Hi Carla--I did sent a picture of my Corgi to someone, which must have been you. Sorry, my memory is not what it used to be, LOL! Her name is Maggie and she loves laying around in the yard with me while I work in the garden.

Best,
Joanne
