I'd want to know CEC rather than those other three items.

Sorry, I thought I was in the Soils Forum. ;-)

I assume that pH is part of the standard test, though you didn't mention it. Ask them if Cation Exchange Capacity is included in the standard test. If not, I wouldn't worry about it. The most important results that typical gardeners need are the pH, and any huge excesses or deficiences.

I have never regretted a penny that I've spent on soil testing - it really takes the guesswork out of gardening. Your plants are doing fine now, but if something happens next year, you won't have any idea why. If you know the soil is good, you can eliminate that from consideration right away and begin to look at other factors, such as disease, pests, root competition, light conditions, etc. You can do a lot of guessing and spend a lot of money in trial and error if you don't know what's in your soil.

Thanks Rhizo 1 and debgrow!

I'll find out about the CEC, though a web site that I visited to find out what it was stated that there is not much that one can do about it. Of course they could be wrong. They do check the ph in the standard test. I wrote acidity in my post by mistake.
