Wanted to add since I was running out of the house earlier....

Will be hooked up to an inlet box, then conduit through the wall, into the #2&4 slot for the 2-pole breaker. Can I use a watt meter for this? This is what I was looking at and what's the best way to connect it?

check out northern tool for transfer switches. i bought a 50 amp Reliance one with dual watt meters. It wasn't cheap, but its a nice panel. Word of advice. You might be better off having the electrian buy and isntall the panel. If you have all the parts, the electrican may jack up his installation cost. Thats what happened to me. I had an electrican tell me it would cost around $2000 to install plus a few outlets in my basement. I had the panel and the big cable to hook up to my generator. I just needed the circuits to be moved my my 200amp panel to the transfer switch. And he still had the gall to give me his card. Its not that much work. I called a buddy who is a licensed electrican and we spent 3 hours installing the switch and extra outlets in my basement.

Luckily my cousin is a master electrician and i'm real handy with tools :).

I'm definately getting it checked out even by a local inspector and getting it signed off on, insurance is getting notified as well.

Last thing I need is an electrical fire originating inside the panel and something being overlooked causing me to pay for the whole repair and possibly a second house, never know but i'm not taking any chances with the legal systems nowadays.

You are a wise man, there is no room for shoddy work on this project.
