Do yourself a favor and upgrade, it's a throw away saw

It's a throwaway saw, but...
it may be a good way to find out if you really want to do chainsawing. I got a Poulan for my first saw, then got a used Stihl when I was sure I was really going to use it.

(The most expensive tools are the ones you don't use!)

Take it back and get the 2250 if you have to have a poulan it has more power and antivibe on it. these saws do not have the power or ability to be used every day they are only for occasional use. Princess auto in dartmouth used to have bins of the poulan pro and poulan saws for 79.99 one time for 99.99 no bar and chain on them. I got one there a poulan pro 220 it works fine for limbing but any tree over about 6 inches is going to give you trouble cutting. last year we went to cut all day at a friends house he was clearing a lot and using the wood for firewood I had my stihl 290 he had a 260 one other friend had a poulan wild thing at first the poulan cut right along with the stihls but after a few hours the difference was very noticeable the stihl started better when hot and really cut fast the poulan each time he would stop was a pain to restart finally he just put it away it was a new saw but the difference in performance was very great.
I think any husky, stihl, echo or jonsered would be a pretty good saw. the poulans I have owned are 220 pro, 2250 and 325 pro that was a very good saw.

How much are you currently using a chain saw. If you are using it a several times a year, and then only using it several hours, why do you need a chainsaw designed for daily used. So it may not be the most powerful, but you are using it for home projects, so is the bigger saw worth the 20 minutes per year that you will save?

Personally, I wanted a chain saw, but did not want to fuss with the constant battle to get it started, keep it running and mixing gasoline. I bought a good electric and it has performed well for the intended use, and adequately for the 35 trees that came down in Fran.

To look at it another way will the gift do YOUR job or is it a "More power" situation

I have a poulan 2150,made in 97 .It cut a lot of wood,and after 6-8 yrs,i put a carb kit in and its still going strong.,,,dont sell these saws short.Its the people that use them that make,or break them.Keep up matenince,and dont bore them in large wood,just cut firewood and you will love them!! Mix the fuel a bit stronger than usual.My cylinder and pisten looks as good as the day it was made,shiny and clean.

I started cutting Firewood in the mid 70 with a 16 inch Poulan S-25 due to a Friend’s Good Result. I had all the Quality I Could Want. After over 10 years or more I ruined the Cylinder Cutting in the High Texas Heat. The Saw took an Easy Rebuild. I purchased another as A Backup and they lasted as long as my Arm.

I have All Low End Poulan or McCullers Etc Electric Saws that do all of my Cutting at Home. At least the last 20 years I have cut my Firewood from Tree Trimmer’s Wood Off the Curbs. My Close Friend use Stihl’s Gas saws but Service All Saws for Himself and Tree Trimmers.
