Echo CS 530

After outlining my needs, cutting wood for my camping life, maintaining my trees around the house, and a little firewood for the house, I decided I didn't need a $600 saw. A 50cc saw seemed about right. Read a lot of reviews on a lot of saws although not a great many on the exact model I ended up with. Echo's reputation was almost unquestionable in all the reviews. Dealer is 20 miles away and I work in that town 3 times a week. I physically checked out the Stihl 260pro, 280, 290, and a Husky 445. All seemed nice enough in hand and unstarted. Bought the CS530 for $419. I opted for the 18" bar, dealer thru in an extra chain. I've used it once to cut down a 18" dying short needle pine. It made easy work of it. So far so good. REJ2.

You'll find even more power once it gets broke in. Out of my 15 saws, most brands my CS510 is my favorite. It's light, handles great, always runs good, the air filter never seems to get dirty and has great power and torque fo a 50 cc saw. Steve

Congrats, I hope it gives you many years of great service.

Keeping the chain sharp, the filter clean, good storage and fuel mix will put you way ahead of alot of occasional users.

If you have alot of really small chainsaw tasks, the little Stihl MS170 and 180 are really alot of fun and quite light.

masiman offers good advice, keep the chain sharp, even a nanosecond of contact with dirt will dull it. Of course the other factors of good engine maintenance that he mentioned always apply.

Overall it appears as if you made a good choice REJ2. Too many homeowners let their pocketbook be the ONLY factor and buy low quality, with too small an engine. Looks like you avoided that trap.
