Which new generator

gregd

Okay, I've resigned myself to the fact that my old generator is no longer reliable (see: Generator requires frequent flashing) and should be replaced with something that the wife could get going if needed......

My house is setup with a 20amp transfer switch, and I have a 20ft 20amp cable for hookup, so a genset with a 20amp plug is a necessity. My old genset is 3,250 watts, and has been plenty of power for my needs. I use the generator to power my boiler, sump pump, fridges (2) and a few lights in the house during emergencies.

I've narrowed down my search to two units, and I'd like the forum's opinion on each. Which direction would you go?

This one, with wheel kit comes to $1,699.

I called Northern, and you're looking at an additional $100 to get either one to your door.....

The Northstar unit has a bit more power with a few extras (hourmeter, volt meter and more outlets) but the Honda is a Honda.

Given the choice, I would like to know which one you would choose?

Thanks for your imput and suggestions!

Greg
