Mock Orange Blooming

Some bushes won't go down without that one last try. I purchased a small mock orange in Sept and planted right away. It seems happy enough and then checking it on Sunday I found TWO buds in white! Surprised doesn't describe it, but shocked might. We have had frosts, hard rain, cold and warm in the last couple weeks. I would have thought any buds would have given up, shriveled away.

These are nice looking, not open yet, but very white. I am checking daily to see the show before something wrecks them. I might just pick them and put stems in a vase. Warm might help open them, plus some smell!

New bush is making the bush 2yrs in the ground look bad. The older bush hasn't ever bloomed, but doesn't get quite as much sun, may be a big factor. Maybe these are confused next years blooms, won't get any next season. It is nice to have them now, so I will just enjoy.

I do get some fall blooming forsythia, but they have been gone a while now, just bright maroon leaves left on those bushes. Oak Hydrangea is getting brighter leaves with more cold. Witch Hazel is about done flowering, leaves off, lots of buds on the spring blooming Witch Hazels. My Kale plants are really getting bright with cold nights. Well worth planting for the show in the cold seasons.
