I'd try your question over at Arboristsite Chainsaws if you don't get answers here soon. There are probably a few here that know the answer but the traffic here is light.

On a different note, that twine did exactly what a pair of chaps will do. Fibers pull out and bind the saw. Get some if you don't already have them. Could save you a world of hurt.

You are correct about the removal procedure. You can make your own tool on some chainsaws with a large deep socket. You can grind the socket to fit over the arms of the clutch. I'm not sure if that will work on your Husky.

The only clutch I bought was not too expensive in case you do need to get one. I hope it would be the same for yours.

Thanks for the response. You are correct with respect to the behavior of the saw with twine and what would happen with chaps; which I wear anytime I am working with firewood, chain saw or not, as they save my pants; not to mention my legs should anything go wrong. In addition I also wear a helmet, with integral ear protection and face shield. I didn't always do this, but a knot popped out one day while cutting and put a gash requiring 3 stitches on my cheek just under my safety glasses some years ago; from that day forward I wear full gear.

I fixed the clutch spring by the way, employing the use of a couple small hand tools and some pliers, once I thought it out it took about 30 seconds to put it back on and the saw runs like a top.

That's great that you are fully suited for the work. Many do not and severely regret if something happens.

I suit up the same as you. A forestry helmet with mesh shield, muffs and eyeglasses along with chaps and steel toed boots when I am on the ground.

Glad you were able to figure out how to remount the spring.
