Is the trolley hitting the bolt just in front of the motor unit?

No, It stops about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch before it gets that far.

Are you sure the two safety eyes are ligned up? Theres a little green LED that tells you when they are. You may have to play with the down force adjustment screws on the back of the unit, I usually turn them in all the way just to aviod problems. Lastly, it could have been hit by lightning, garage door openers are a favotire target of surges.

If all it does is click I would suspect a bad logic board. You might pull this board and take a close look for missing or burned traces. If adjusting the down force to maximum was the answer to any problem the manufacturer would save a couple bucks by eliminating this foolish thing.

Safety eyes are ok, as the lights are green on both of them. I will have to check the logic board for any marks or burn traces.

I have a Craftsman 1/2 HP model # 139.53648SRT1 thats about 12 years old. When I press the wall mount button the lights come on and it makes a humming noise but the garage door doesn't move. I also noticed the led on the back of the opener blinking 5 times. I don't have a manual to find out what this means since I just moved into the home 5 months ago. Any suggestions?

Is the garage door stuck in the up position. If so the trolley may be jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. Remove the bolt, run the opener until the door is closed and then adjust the 'up limit' 2 or 3 turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Be sure to replace the bolt.
