Air compressor issue.

Hello..I have a very small air compressor. It's a senco pc1010. 1\2 horse, 1 gallon tank. ANyways, it is designed up to 125Lbs PSI, but only will reach a maximim of 50-55 lbs and it runs continuously. When turned off however, it will stay righ at the 50-55 lbs pressure, and doesn't leak. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Sounds like the the valves in the pump are leaking.Likely a Chinese built unit, easier and cheaper to replace the unit than repair

This is an oil less unit and the ring is usually gone. Just part of maintenance with an oil less. The first time it is over ran the rings fail. It could be a valve. To check the valves remove the air cleaner and start the compressor. Put you hand over the intake and see if it is sucking air with no blow back.

The air filter is a very small quarter sized opening, with no filter in it at all. Could be thats the problem..I wonder how i am going to repair a valve...Hmnnn

I'll bet a dollar to a donut it is the ring. I would check that and you can see the valves when it is apart.
