Strange. Here's an April 11, 2008 quote posted at insidewoodworking.com: "The assets of Sanborn Manufacturing have been acquired by Coleman Powermate, Inc." It turned up in a Google search along with several stories about Coleman buying up Sanborn stuff, dating back to 1994.

Coleman bought Sanborn long long ago and formed Coleman Powermate which they sold to Sun Holdings (who I think sold the Sanborn name) and investemnt firm. Sun tried and failed to sell powermate so they filed bankruptcy. The the holding company that bought Sanborn from them bought Powermate and one plant. The kicker is this company had made a earlier offer that was rejected by Sun. Then they got a fire sale. I think this investment firm may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Many many of these Powermate generators and compressors are still for sale at the Depot and Lowes as Husky and Kobalt.
