straw worked into garden

i have axcess to large round wheat straw bales. will working this straw into the garden do any thing to the ph? the round bail weights about 1000 lbs. and is placed on end so water can det into it. i tiled a lot of in in last spring. will this help the soil or harm it. carrots seem to like it as i had lots of 9 in. ones.

Check out Ruth Stout- there are some video's on YouTube and lots of articles & books that she wrote about her method of gardening. She used hay/straw to mulch her garden and build her soil so that she didn't need to till her garden.

I'm guessing you don't need any lessons what is in that thar bale - around here it's likley to be corn stalks as straw.
I dunno about pH but have heard that bugs love the environment.
I guess we'll find out.

If you don't compost it but use for mulch - heck, that's a win either way!
If it were me I'd jump on it (heh - 22 small bales last fall)
