I believe the 339 has an adjustable oiler. How cold is it where you are cutting? I would suspect if it's cold that you need to turn the oil feed way up and/or use a different oil. What bar oil are you using?

Doesn't sound like a Husky trait, also is the operator of the saw using it at full-throttle? Just a tip in case you may not know.....chainsaws don't have a part-throttle mixing circuit in the carb..it's either idle or wide-open..that is it. Chainsaws are designed to be used wide-open...all the time, even when cutting tiny limbs...rev that sucker EVERY SINGLE TIME, could be causing an oiling issue as well.

For one thing, I agree that it does not sound like a Husky trait. I have three Huskies in my tool shed, and I'm happy with them all.

My friend's 339, though, seems like a totally different story. I know about the adjustable oiler and all that - but it should not have anything to do with the oiler ITSELF failing; set it too low, and you'll ruin your chain/bar for lack of oil - but I don't think it should cause the oiler mechanism to break. I may need to clarify the problem with this particular 339: the oiler mechanism failed so that the dealer had to replace it a couple of times; it was not that the chain was simply not getting oil for some unknown reason.

Regarding how it's being used -- this guy I'm talking about is a farmer. He cut more wood and used more chanisaws than a lot of us. If he's saying "I didn't even get 10 minutes of total cutting time out of this saw" -- I believe there's a problem with the saw.
